'Projecta't' training scholarships for students

Monday 15th April 2019

17 YOUNG PEOPLE PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECTA'T  SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS THAT ALLOWS THEM TO COMPLEMENT THEIR THEORETICAL LEARNING WITH TRAINING PRACTICES IN MUNICIPAL

DEPARTMENTS

Since the end of last year, 17 young people have participated or are participating in the Projecta't scholarships for Master, graduates and and training courses students who are offered the possibility of practice training in municipal services or departments. This group of young people coordinated by the CUC (University Centre of Calvià), come from biology, law, pedagogy, psychology, social work, advertising and public relations, economics, audiovisual communication, administrative management, heritage management and biochemistry studies, amongst others, who carry out their practice training in the departments of Culture, IMEB (Education and Libraries), Communication, Hiring, IFOC (Training and Employment), ICE (Sports), Transparency, Human Resources, Social Intervention and Social Services, and Natural and Urban Environment.

Projecta't is part of a set of scholarships (BeCalvià) offered by the Town Hall to promote and enhance the education and training of the youth in the municipality and, at the same time, respond to the needs of a labour market that requires professionals every time with more preparation, more competent and flexible.

The Projecta't scholarships, specifically, contribute to the comprehensive training of recent graduates who can complement their theoretical learning with training practices. For this, they are provided with knowledge of the work methodology appropriate to the professional reality in which they will have to operate, contrasting and applying the knowledge acquired. They are also encouraged to develop technical, methodological, social and communicative skills, all this with the objective of obtaining practical experience that facilitates their insertion in the labour market and improve their future employability.

Of the 17 people who began the scholarship, 5 have been unsubscribed between March and April, having been able to incorporate the labour market in their academic training field.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, as well as the IMEB manageress, Cecilia Valls, and the CUC coordinator, Maria Antònia Fiol, held a meeting with the scholarship holders to analyse their evolution and receive their impressions.

The next call for recent graduates will open in August.

Currently, and until 30th April, the period is open for university and training-course students willing to make a practical scholarship during the summer months, whether in a public or municipal company.
