Calvią's Mallorca Mediator Students Meeting

Friday 24th May 2019

MEDIATOR STUDENTS MEETING 2019 AWARDING OF DIPLOMAS IN ES GENERADOR

'Es Generador' youth centre of Calvià hosted the awarding of diplomas to students participating in the last Mediator Students Meeting 2019, organised by the Institut per a la Convivència i l'Éxit Escolar (Institute for the School Coexistance and Success) of the Conselleria d'Educació i Universitat (Regional Ministry of Education and University), attended by the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal; the Regional Minister of Education and University, Martí March; the Deputy Mayor of Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés; the Councillor of Palmanova, Francisca Muñoz; the General Director of Innovation and Education Community of the Regional Government, Jaume Ribas, and the Director of the Institut per a la Convivència i l'Èxit Escolar (Institute for the School Coexistance and Success), Marta Escoda.

These Mallorca students meetings, which have taken place over three days (on Fridays 10th, 17th and 24th May in Es Generador), aim to make public the grateful recognition to the involvement of these students in mediation tasks, sharing experiences, creating collaboration networks between the centres, as well as facilitating contact between mediators.

Calvià is TEI City (Peer Tutoring), a programme of institutional coexistence that involves the entire educational community with the will to work for an inclusive school with zero tolerance towards violence. From the 2017-2018 academic year Calvià is part of the network of municipalities that the TEI applies to which all the educational centres of the municipality have joined, based on the emotional tutoring amongst equals, in which respect, empathy and commitment are the basic pillars of development in the centres.

The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) last year awarded one of the seven prizes of the IV Municipal Good Practices Contest, in the category of prevention and intervention against bullying in municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, to the Calvià Ciutat TEI programme.

In the three days that took place in Es Generador, 477 students from 33 schools in Mallorca participated.
