Tuesday 22nd October 2019

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL PROGRESSES IN THE PROPOSED ACTIONS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY'S COASTLINE

It works with the different administrations involved in the coast protection

A Calvià Town Hall delegation, headed by the deputy mayor for Environment, Rafel Sedano, and municipal technicians for Coast and Environment, met with the general director of Natural Spaces and Biodiversity of the Regional Ministry for Environment and Territory, Llorenç Mas, to present and coordinate the viability of different Calvià coast conservation projects in, sometimes, the massive presence of vessels in some areas of the municipality's coast.

These past months, work has been done, from the municipal Coastline and Environment departments, in the execution of different parallel channels to the coast marked for public and safe use of various areas of the Calvià coast; in the extension of the beacons in different beaches for a use of wider areas for bathers, and in a planning in several areas of buoy fields for a regulated anchorage in order to protect and preserve the posidonia meadows.

The Town Hall's intention is to coordinate actions between the different administrations that have powers in the management and preservation of the Calvià coast. It is also planned to present this action plan on the coast of the municipality, to the Coast Demarcation Department to meet its guidelines, viability and type of procedures and authorisations necessary to implement the measures.
