CALVIÀ CLOSES THE YEAR AS THE TOURIST AREA WITH THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF OCCUPANCY BY OVERNIGHT STAYS IN SPAIN
Calvià had in 2021 the highest average rate of tourist occupancy by overnight stays in Spain, with 57,4%. This follows from the results of the Hotel Occupancy Survey published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This data highlights the recovery experienced by the tourism sector, placing the municipality of Calvia at the head, in terms of occupancy, of all the tourist spots in Spain.
In addition to the average occupancy rate, Calvià also recorded good figures regarding the total number of overnight stays in 2021 which, although still far from the data for the pre-pandemic years, placed the destination in sixth place compared to other destinations, with 3.579,785 overnight stays.
Other data highlighted by the INE in the study is the average stay of tourists, which in the case of Calvià was 5.76 days, also ranking amongst the top ten destinations, and above the national average that stood at 2.85 days.
Finally, 621.718 travelers stayed in the municipality, of which 86.42% were foreigners and 13.58%, residents in Spain.
