Statement following Josep Pont's identification

Calvià 15th February 2022

The Town Hall celebrates the identification of Josep Pont Cladera found in the Calvià mass grave

Calvià Town Hall celebrates the identification of Josep Pont Cladera from Pollença, whose remains were found in the Calvià mass grave, opened in October 2018. Thus, the identification of Josep Pons is added to the names of Joan Ferrà and Joana Vaño. Manel Suárez, author of the Calvià mass grave report, documented up to a minimum of 22 people.

Calvià Town Hall wants to convey its affection to the family of Josep Pont.

The councillor for Environment, Ecological Transition and Democratic Memory, Rafel Sedano, thanked on behalf of the Town Hall the work carried out by the Govern and the Aranzadi technical team to recover the bodies and memory of the people who were cruelly murdered. Sedano recalled that on 8th October of each year, the municipality pays tribute, together with Memòria de Calvià, to the victims of Francoism, with an act in the cemetery to preserve their memory, in commemoration of the grave's opening in 2018.
