ALEJANDRO FORCADES AND LEIRE BARAIBAR WIN IN A MULTITUDINARY GALATZÓ TRAIL 2022

• Willam Aveiro and Jem Cooper win the GALATZÓ HALF
• The race is consolidated as the mountain benchmark on the island

The Galatzó trail's fourth edition has resulted in the victory of Alejandro Forcades and Leire Baraibar in the LEGEND distance (43 km) and William Aveiro and Jem Cooper in the HALF distance (23 km). Almost 700 runners have run along the paths of the Galatzó Public Estate, proving their desire to return to competition.

The GALATZÓ TRAIL 2022 had two important novelties compared to previous editions, improved routes thanks to the work of the mountain teams and the opinions of the participants, and the large increase in international athletes, who on this occasion responded to the call, who accounted approximately 25% of the total.

The weather finally was good during most of the route, and has not been an obstacle for runners to enjoy a great mountain race at the Galatzó Estate.

GALATZÓ LEGEND
More than 200 people registered in this spectacular and demanding race. The objective is to overcome 43 km in a terrain that is one hundred percent mountainous, with a positive slope of 2,237 m and a total of 4,474 m of accumulated slope. The challenge started at 8.30 a.m. from Plaça de Sa Vinya in Es Capdellà, the gateway to one of the most emblematic places in the Serra de Tramuntana, the Galatzó Estate, the area where most of the race took place.

The new route first confronted participants with the top of Sa Mola de s'Esclop (927 metres), once conquered, the descent began to face the demanding climb to the emblematic Puig de Galatzó (1,027 metres). After overcoming the mountainous difficulty, the route continued towards the recovered path of Sa Font Nova, and from there, face the last kilometres to the finish line, located in the beautiful village of Es Capdellà.

Official results:
In the men's Galatzó Legend, the victory went to Alejandro Forcades Pujol (04:22:30) from the Tirany CM club. Ramón Rossell Pons (04:29:04) from the Tramuntana Esports club entered the finish line in 2nd position, while Esteve Bauçà (04:51:44) from the Xendenguets Club completed the podium.
In the women's Galatzó Legend, the victory went to Leire Baraibar (05:00:05), followed by Marta Tous (06:46:26) from the Palmarunners club and Paula Fuertes Martín (06:47:24).

GALATZÓ HALF (23 KM)
The new Galatzó trail layout promised the 450 registered people a more demanding positive difference in altitude than in previous editions, (1,133 m compared to 925 m in 2021) and, above all, the opportunity to crown an emblematic peak in western Mallorca, Sa Mola de s'Esclop. The route has passed through some of the most spectacular trails of the estate, passing through outstanding points such as Sa Coma d'en Vidal, el Boal de ses Serveres, or es Pas des Cossis, to later reach ses Cases de Galatzó and from there, return to Es Capdellà village, where the finish line was located.
In the men's Galatzó Half the victory went to William Aveiro (02:05:13) from the +QTRAIL club, second place for Toni Ques Bisbal (02:19:25) from the YES WITH CANCER club, while Sebas Amer (02:20:04) completed the podium.
