Three of Calvià municipal nurseries submit their candidacy as a reference centre for UNICEF
The Santa Ponça, Bendinat and Es Molinet de Galatzó nurseries are formally submitting their candidacy for recognition as a reference centre for children's rights and global citizenship granted by UNICEF - Spanish Committee.
Recognition as a Reference Centre in Education in Children's Rights and Global Citizenship is a distinction granted by the UNICEF Spanish Committee to Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education centres, whether public, subsidised or private, recognised as official centres by the Ministry of Education and Professional Training.
This recognition is convened biannually, as a boost to the capacity of educational centres to use children's rights as the backbone of a school community that contributes to their promotion and fulfillment, for building a global citizenship based on the enjoyment of those rights and of the responsibilities that derive from their exercise.
The fundamental objective of this recognition is to place childhood and their rights in a prominent place in school life, guided by the principles of inclusion, equity, solidarity and quality. In the same way, it must contribute to providing teaching with the dimensions of globality and interdependence, characteristics of today's world, and essential in the education of children and adolescents as global citizens.
These three centres in the municipality of Calvià have taken their first steps in a permanent process of improvement and make clear reference to children's rights in all areas.
