THE SOIB REACTIVA 2021 PROGRAMME, WHICH HAS OFFERED WORK IN CALVIÀ TO 64 UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE, ENDS
Since its launch, this programme has enabled the hiring of 170 people in different municipal areas
The president of the regional government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, and the mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, have closed the SOIB Reactiva 2021 Programme, which has allowed 64 unemployed people to access to a job in a municipal department or company, for a period of 6 months, to carry out works or services of social interest that have benefited the entire municipality of Calvià.
The event was attended by the deputy mayor for Education and Employment and president of the IFOC, Olga Granados; the deputy mayor and vice president of the IFOC, Marga Plomer; the manager of the IFOC, Darío Espallargas; the director of the SOIB, Pilar Ortiz, as well as other members of the municipal government team, and the people who have made up this six-month programme.
During the closing ceremony, the work of these 64 people, most of whom are from Calvià, was recognised. The president thanked the programme participants for their work in a programme that "is opportunities, training and love to public service" because "working to serve your fellow citizens is fundamental" and "spending six months dedicated to making your city better awake many things". In this sense, Armengol has claimed that "only by reinforcing the public service we can guarantee equal opportunities" and has assured that she is "convinced that participation in the SOIB Reactiva will give more opportunities for job insertion" to the people who today say goodbye to the Programme: "where there is a Town Hall willing to work on employment policies, the opportunities are many more for the citizens of that municipality".
For his part, the mayor thanked the launch of this type of programmes which, since its launch in 2020, has enabled to provide a job response to 170 people in Calvià, in a clear collaboration between institutions, especially in the most difficult times when the pandemic suddenly brought the economy to a halt. In this sense, Rodríguez Badal has emphasised the importance of these measures which, added to the social assistance and aid to the productive sectors launched by public administrations, have enabled the sustainment of the social and economic fabric in the municipality.
The call envisages three lines of action for unemployed people: Line 1, aimed at young people under 30 years of age enrolled in the Youth Guarantee programme, Line 2, for long-term unemployed people over 30 years of age, and Line 3, for those over 30 years of age who are not long-term unemployed. In this call, the hiring of people from Calvià was prioritised, of which 50% are over 30 years of age.
Once these projects are completed, the IFOC makes available to the participating people the necessary resources to promote their employability, such as the Municipal Employment Agency, the Employment Guidance Service and the Entrepreneurs Attention Service, in addition to their catalogue of training actions.
The SOIB Reactiva programme, which has been promoted by the SOIB and executed in collaboration with Calvià Town Hall, is configured as an active policy to promote employment, and is co-financed with funds from the ESF (European Social Fund), within the framework of the Operative Programmes for Youth and Regional Employment 2014-2020, with funds from the State through the Sectoral Conference on Employment and Labour Affairs and has meant a total cost of 723.043,80€ for the municipality of Calvià, of which 590.020,18€ correspond to the subsidy and 133.023,62€ has been contributed by Calvià Town Hall.
Calvià Town Hall has participated, once again, in this call, by presenting four projects, one by Calvià Town Hall, through the Calvià Training and Employment Institute (IFOC), which encompasses various municipal areas: Commerce and Activities, Information Technology, Social Development, Children and the Elderly, IFOC, Maintenance, Environment and Ecological Transition, Housing, Youth and Citizen Participation, Transparency and Innovation, Organisation and Quality, Economic Services and Contracting, Urban Planning, ICE, and Culture; the other three projects, by public bodies: Llar de Calvià, Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB) and Municipal Tax Office (OMT).
MEETING WITH THE ELDERLY PEOPLE OF THE MUNICIPALITY
Previously, the president and the mayor attended the meeting with entities and elderly people, in which proposals have been collected for the preparation of the Municipal Active Aging Guide, a tool for people over 65 years of age in which they will be informed of all the municipal and supra-municipal resources that the elderly people can count on in Calvià. The meeting was also attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Social Development, Children and the Elderly, M. Carmen Rojano, as well as the councillor for Palmanova, Francisca Muñoz, and the island director of Community Care and Strategic Projects of the IMAS, Omar Lamin.
The day ended with a meal with the directors of the 3 IES, the 11 CEIP and the CEPA of Calvià, and in which the regional minister of Education and Training, Martí March, was also present.
