Calvià, 31st August 2022

EXHIBITION INAUGURATION AND REI EN JAUME 2022 AWARDS CEREMONY

DONA esCULTURA by Ricard Llorens and Cavallet de mar o el peix invisible by the company Lapermanent win the Photography and Theatre awards, respectively

This afternoon the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, presented the Rei En Jaume Photography and Theatre Awards in an event that has taken place in the Town Hall's gardens, and which have gone to Ricard Llorens, in the Photography category, for the work DONA esCULTURA, and to the company Lapermanent (Moirai Teatre) in the Theatre category, for its creation Cavallet de mar o el peix invisible.

This event promotes both, artistic creation and cultural activity of the municipality and represents a continuation of the more than forty years of tradition in which, in the different stages of its history, countless professionals from the world of culture have been brought together.

In the Photography category, the jury has also decided to award a special mention to the work Qui em vol comprar, by Jaume Gaviño. The Comic category this year has been deserted.

At the end of the awards presentation, a dramatised reading of a small part of the Cavallet de mar o el peix invisible text has been carried out. The complete work will premiere in June next year within the JoanArt Calvià programme.

The photographic exhibition, which can be visited until 23rd September in Calvià Town Hall's Exhibition Hall, was also inaugurated this afternoon. The exhibition presents the 15 works selected from the Rei En Jaume Photography Award finalists: Ángel Ros Die, Fred Heusch, Jaime Gaviño Morey, Marcos Iso, Marina Cánovas Galmés, Marina Vidal Tejedor, Miguel Auria, Miguel Cabrerizo Tejero, Montse Furment Giner, Ricard Llorenç Huc, Roberta de Nicola, Rodrigo Banegas, Sandra Mirey, Txema García Laseca and Yaiza Rodríguez Bennàssar.

The Photography prize is endowed with 1.000 euros and an exhibition at the Town Hall, while the Theatre prize is endowed with 3.000 euros, a theatrical residency and a premiere with box-office.
