Visit to the Galatzó sports pavilion

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL AND CONSELL DE MALLORCA INVEST NEARLY 460.000 EUROS IN IMPROVE THE SPORTS FACILITIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The investment is part of the RenovEsport Subsidy Plan that has involved, amongst other things, changing the pavement of the Galatzó and Son Ferrer pavilions

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Catalina Cladera, visited the Galatzó sports pavilion this morning, where one of the notable investments in sports spaces in the municipality has been made with own investment from the Town Hall and with a subsidy of the Consell, through the RenovEsport Plan. The visit was also attended by the deputy mayor for Sports, Eva Serra, the island councillor for Transition, Tourism and Sports, Andreu Serra; the insular director of Sports, Margalida Portells; the councillor for the Galatzó area, Marcos Pecos, and the manager of the Calvià Sports Institute (ICE), Joan Amengual.

The total investment that has been made in Calvià through the RenovEsport Plan is 459.945,52 euros, of which 47% (216.639,21 euros) has been provided by the Consell, through the plan, and 53% (243.306,31 euros) have been contributed by Calvià Town Hall, with its own funds.

The mayor has pointed out that this infrastructure has undergone a very significant investment thanks to the supplement provided by the grant from the Consell de Mallorca, and explained that the necessary investment has been made to respond to the needs of children and young people in terms of sports practice. On her behalf, the president of the Consell de Mallorca has indicated that this aid is positive for the municipalities because it helps them to maintain the facilities, especially for municipalities such as Calvià with various population centres with sports facilities. She has added that it is a help that must have a vision of continuity in order to help maintain the facilities for the practice of grassroots sport and to generate social cohesion.

One of the most outstanding actions that have been carried out in the sports halls of the municipality has been the change of pavement of the sports centres of Son Ferrer and Galatzó, which has been visited today, and which has involved a global investment of nearly 240.000 euros. The new flooring installed is a flexlock panel system, a patented system, of wood decking consisting of hardwood floors with a cross-ventilated design for the subfloor, and a resistant foam underlayment that offers homogeneous shock absorption. In the same Galatzó pavilion, some waterproofing works have been carried out on the roof, which have had an investment of 46.700 euros.

The rest of the investments that have been carried out through the RenovEsport Plan, with a subsidy from the Consell, and the Town Hall's own investment, have consisted of the construction of roofs for stands in various outdoor sports facilities in the municipality of Calvià (147.271 euros). , and the provision of lighting and pavement rehabilitation of the Galatzó calisthenics.
