CALVIÀ CONTRIBUTES TO THE ACQUISITION OF A HEATING SYSTEM FOR THE ORPHANAGE IN HARKOV

The donation has been made through a grant to the Majorcan Association for Aid to Ukrainian Refugees (Amar Ucrania)

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has signed an agreement with the president of the Majorcan Association for Aid to Ukrainian Refugees (Amar Ucrania), Anastasia Kvach, for the delivery of 18,000 euros from the item destined for International Cooperation, for the acquisition of a heating system for the orphanage of Harkov.

This action is part of one of the Association's projects at the request of orphanages in Ukraine, which is to supply three heating systems: one for the Solobovets Educational and Rehabilitation Centre, which belongs to the Khmelnytskyi regional council; one for Escoleta number 2 of the City of Harkov, which has been transferred to the Ivanofranskivsk region, in the city of Vorokhta, and a third, which is the one that has been acquired with the help of Calvià Town Hall, for the Harkov region for the social support of children and families “Harmony”, which is now temporarily located in the village of Baliv-Pidhirnyi.

This is the third international cooperation that Calvià Town Hall has made for Ukraine, after the contribution of 10,000 euros made through the Fons Mallorquí de Solidaritat, and 3,000 euros, through UNICEF.

In addition, also through the Town Hall's Social Services, a total of 98 Ukrainian people (33 families) who have fled the war have been cared for in the municipality, and who have received comprehensive care and support.

The mayor and the president of the Association have held a meeting which was also attended by the deputy mayor of Social Cohesion, Nati Francés; the councillor for Social Development, M. Carmen Rojano; the general director of Social Development, Cristina Gamundí, and Joan Prats, member of the Association.
