III Vocational Guidance Conference

MORE THAN 350 STUDENTS IN FOURTH YEAR OF ESO IN CALVIÀ PARTICIPATED IN THE III CONFERENCE ON VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE ORGANISED BY THE TOWN HALL

The students of the three high schools of the municipality have had the opportunity to receive information to guide their academic, professional and personal future

Throughout the morning, the III Vocational Guidance Conference organised by the Calvià Town Hall, through the CUC-IMEB (Calvià University Centre-Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries of Calvià), took place at the Casal de Peguera and is aimed at the students in 4th year of ESO of the three public high schools of the municipality: the IES Calvià, IES Bendinat and the IES Son Ferrer.

During the day, a series of activities have been organised with the aim of providing students, who are in the last phase of compulsory education, a series of tools and resources to facilitate the decision making about their future in the academic, professional and personal field.

Four differentiated spaces have been delimited at the Casal. In one of them, at the auditorium, and after the inauguration by the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and which was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, the motivational and creative conference by César Llorente López, CEO at Motivapedia, expert in gamification, strategic consulting, executive coach, creator of the Tangram Method and professor at the University of the Balearic Islands, took place.

Outside the Casal, the 370 participants have had the opportunity to learn, through entities and educational centres, about the studies' offer and access to high school, training cycles, university degrees and different higher education offer, besides enjoying practical workshops and demonstrations of certain studies.

In another outdoor location, they have had the opportunity to talk and exchange impressions with students and recent graduates of different training and university cycle studies.

Finally, 36 tables have been placed at the multipurpose room with professionals from different fields, with whom they have been able to speak personally to first-hand learn the professions they have shown more interest for. Amongst these areas are, for instance: Journalism, Law, Education, Medicine, Biology, Psychology, Veterinary, Design, Dramatic Art, Advertising, Video Game Design, Fashion Design, Airline Industry, Local Police, National Police and Civil Guard or Criminology, amongst others.
