The IFOC offers training in the nautical sector

Wednesday 23rd March 2022

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL, THROUGH THE IFOC, OFFERS FOR THE FIRST TIME OFFICIAL COURSES RELATED TO THE NAUTICAL SECTOR

These are 4 free courses for people interested in this professional field

Calvià Town Hall, through the Calvià Training and Employment Institute (IFOC), is launching this year 2022 a new line of training action aimed preferably at people who live or work in the municipality of Calvià, and who, regardless of their work situation, want to focus on the nautical sector as their present or future professional activity. This new training has worked with the main yacht clubs in the municipality.

Thus, during the years 2022 and 2023, 2 annual shifts (March-April and October-November) of training will be offered, consisting of two official degrees:

-BASIC TRAINING IN MARITIME SAFETY STCW of 70 hours. It is a title that is required for all personnel who want to perform professional maritime functions on civilian vessels.
-BASIC TRAINING IN MARITIME SECURITY of 12 hours. This degree is aimed at all crew members on merchant ships who need to have a vessels and port facilities protection certificate.

The nautical sector is an essential productive activity in the municipality of Calvià, being the Balearic municipality with more nautical clubs. In this sense, it was stated in the objectives of the 2019-2023 legislature, and in the Calvià strategic employment plan, approved by the SOIB, the need to expand the IFOC training catalogue to sectors such as the nautical, both due to the obvious deseasonal nature of this activity and its impact on the productive fabric of the municipality, being one of the sectors that has faced the crisis derived from COVID-19 with strength and exceeding the initial activity forecasts.

The registration period for this training first round has already been opened on www.ifoc.es/contigo and it is expected that during this first year a maximum of 80 people can benefit from the training.

From the IFOC, and given the interest raised, the expansion of the training offer to new specialties within this same sector is already being considered.
