The Sheep and Goat Fair of Calvià, one of the most consolidated fairs in Mallorca, which resumes after it was suspended in 2020 and that had to carry out decentralised activities in 2021 due to the pandemic, returns on 9th and 10th April.

In this XXII edition, as the councillor for the Environment and Ecological Transition, Rafel Sedano, has pointed out, "we have worked hard to offer a lively and attractive fair, which invites people to stroll through the village, but above all, that shows the activities related to the countryside and the agricultural and livestock traditions of our environment. A proposal, in short, that values the importance of our primary sector as an authentic conservation agent for our landscape, our traditional heritage and our culture».

The programme, headed by the poster of Juan Diego Ingelmo, winner of the competition, includes a series of activities, which have the main event on Sunday 10th April, the award ceremony of the Majorcan breed males contest and the Majorcan Sheep breed morphological contest, which will be preceded by the Calvià giants and giantesses parade and which will continue with the ball de bot (traditional Majorcan dance) performance, with the Municipal School of Ball de Bot, the Pere Josep Cañellas Cultural Association and the Municipal Music Band.

Different initiatives have been organised around the Fair, such as the gastronomic exhibition, food tasting workshops or fair dishes in the village's bars, as well as the Saló d'Oví i Caprí de Mallorca, where you can taste lamb meat and Majorcan sheep and goat cheese.

Activities around traditions and work in the fields have a capital presence at the Fair, with the animal exhibition, the XIII Balearic Sheepdog Working Championship, different workshops, talks, practical demonstrations or shearing exhibition.

On 9th and 10th April, the village will host the handicraft and agri-food market, and the I Calvià Giants and Giantesses Exhibition, which can be seen in Sa Societat theatre.

Music, both in public and private spaces, will come from Música Nostra, Big Yuyu, Ximbomba Atòmica, Alejandra Burgos & Yorick Cheveau, amongst others, and there will be entertainment with the dixieland band McAgon'Day, and children's activities with 'rondalles', storytelling and a games library, the performance of Cucorba or the acrobatics of the living Siurells by Circo Stromboli.
