PRESENTATION OF THE V SANTA PONÇA CUP
The 5th 'Santa Ponça Cup' international grassroots football tournament, which will take place from 13th to 17th April, was presented today and which this year marks a record participation with 48 national and international teams, including Sevilla FC, Real Betis Balompié, València FC, FC Barcelona, Nàstic de Tarragona or RCD Mallorca, the international Maccabi Petah-Tikvah FC, Bologna FC and SK Sturm Graz, or the local ones such as CD Manacor, Santa Ponça CF, CF Son Caliu, CF Sporting de Mahón, or Atlético Baleares, amongst many others, as the organisers, Tomás Gibert and Manu Chancla, have explained.
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Eva Serra, has highlighted the importance of this event in its two aspects: sports, with sports values in formative ages, and tourism, for the promotion that will mean for the destination that it will receive around 1,000 overnight stays per day, in 5 or 6 days. The president of Fundación Calvià 2004, Antonio Mayol, also attended the presentation.
