Calvią receives the Family Tourism Seal

Tuesday 23rd August 2022

CALVIÀ OBTAINS THE FAMILY TOURISM SEAL FOR ITS EXCELLENCE IN FAMILY CARE

The FEFN has assessed the quality of the accommodation in the municipality in terms of services and safety for large families with children of different ages, as well as the wide range of family plans that include theme parks, beaches and water and land sports, nature and leisure activities

The Spanish Federation of Large Families (FEFN) has delivered the Family Tourism Seal to Calvià, an endorsement approved by the Secretary of State for Tourism that certifies destinations and companies that meet with excellence the needs of families when they travel.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, who received the plaque and the quality certificate from Carlos Frutos Rosado, representative of FANOMIB, pointed out that this recognition shows that "Calvià has known how to bring together all the elements that make a destination ideal for families, a tourism segment that we have been promoting for a few years” and has highlighted amongst them the accommodation with all the services, safe stays and a wide and varied activity offer, as well as its good climate and beaches.

Strategy focused on families
The municipality has a complete family tourism strategy, with programmes, plans and activities that are included in its official tourism website, to which are added specific programmes of family interest in its coastal residential areas, especially Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponça and Peguera. Likewise, the most emblematic places, both cultural and natural, have been adapted for children and the activity and service companies of the destination offer activities specially designed for children and families.

To obtain the seal, around 180 family and theme hotels and other establishments have been posted, as well as a wide range of restaurants made up of more than 380 premises and 60 children's play areas, with reading and seasonal entertainment areas such as the Swimming-pool and Beach Library, amongst others. In addition, for Calvià's adhesion to this network, it has also been taken into account the fact that the destination has 15 quality Q flags on its beaches (the municipality with the most certified beaches in Spain), which certifies the bathing areas safety.

Calvià has also begun to develop some improvements to meet the expectations of family trips. For instance, a guide with advice and recommendations for children is in the process of being prepared, which will soon be made available in tourist offices and on the official website, in addition to a satisfaction survey for travellers.

Obtaining the Family Tourism Seal is the result of a motion approved unanimously at the municipal plenary session in May 2021.
