THE SENIOR CITIZENS ASSOCIATIONS IN CALVIÀ RECEIVE A SUBSIDY TO CARRY OUT ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE SOCIO-CULTURAL CARE PROGRAMME FOR THE ELDERLY OF THE MUNICIPALITY

The activities are scheduled with the aim of promoting active and healthy aging

The ten senior citizens associations in Calvià that this year have applied to the call, have received this morning a subsidy to carry out activities within the socio-cultural care programme for the elderly of the municipality.

In total, 18.878 euros have been allocated for sociocultural, sports, training, leisure and free time activities, events or the acquisition of material, amongst others. The call is intended for senior citizens associations in the municipality of Calvià that carry out activities that promote the participation of the senior citizens in the municipality with the aim of improving their well-being and social integration.

Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal thanked the Senior Citizens Associations boards of directors for the irreplaceable work they do to organise the activities, while he highlighted the importance of these actions for the Town Hall since a fundamental objective is achieved: the cohesion of the municipality and the promotion of active and healthy aging of the elderly people in Calvià.

For their part, the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés, and M. Carmen Rojano, councillor for Social Development, Childhood and Senior Citizens, who have welcomed the people attending the event, also praised the work that the senior citizens associations in the municipality develop, which, with their dedication and organisation of activities and events, take care of the social, psychological and physical health of the elderly in their areas.

The act, which has taken place in the Plenary Hall, was attended by the municipal government team councillors.
