Amongst the complementary activities to the main event, the Mar Senses Mallorca Chess Weekend tournament for amateurs and students stands out, which will distribute €1,000 in prizes, and will take place from 7th to 9th October. On Saturday 15th October at Passeig de la Mar in Palmanova there will be an exhibition of simultaneous games by the players of the Spanish team, Ana Matnadze, current number 1 in Spain, and Mónica Calzetta, 7-time champion of Spain. Both, great masters, will face thirty rivals. The activity is part of the program 'Chess and Women' of the Spanish Chess Federation.

The closing of the tournament and the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, 16th October, in the Sala Palmanova. One more year, chess will act as a link between people of different nationalities and of all ages gathered in the municipality of Calvià. The participants on this occasion, from twenty-eight different countries, will join the already large group of ambassadors who, over these almost twenty years, have visited and made the municipality of Calvià known.
