All ready for the 8th Challenge Peguera Mallorca

EVERYTHING PREPARED FOR THE 8TH EDITION OF CHALLENGE PEGUERA MALLORCA

• The test is decisive for the resolution of the Challenge Family World Bonus ranking 2022
• Pablo Dapena and Sara Pérez Sala with podium options
• More than 85% of international participants will compete in the race

This coming Saturday, 15th October at 9 a.m., the 8th edition of Challenge Peguera Mallorca, the Calvià international triathlon, will be held. The event, which has more than 1,200 people participating in the different races, marks the end of the triathlon season in Europe.

The test has generated great international expectation, since the results in the professional categories will be key to the resolution of the final ranking of the CHALLENGE FAMILY WORLD BONUS, €125,000 in prizes that are distributed among the 5 professional triathletes with the most points in the ranking at the end of the year.

There will be 34 nationalities represented at Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2022. A total of 1,200 athletes during the weekend, most of them international, which represents more than 85%.

Professionals
Around 90 professional triathletes will take the start at Challenge Peguera Mallorca this Saturday, 60 will do so in the men's category and 30 in the women's.

Men's PRO Race Preview
The winner of Challenge Peguera Mallorca in 2018, the Galician Pablo Dapena González will seek in one of his fetish tests, to win again, and incidentally, get the long-awaited 250 points that will allow him to continue with options to enter the top 5 positions in the ranking. It will not be easy, amongst other opponents will be the Dutchman Niek Heldoorn, 2nd ranked in the long distance world championship held at Challenge Almere 2022 and winner of the embrunman 22, and the also Spanish Victor Arroyo, winner this year of the 1406Inn International Triathlon.

Women's PRO Race Preview
An epic race is expected due to the level of the participants. The British Fenella Langridge, who currently leads the CHALLENGE FAMILY ranking, arrives in Mallorca after participating last week in Kona. The winner of Challenge Salou and second in Challenge Salou, will have as great rivals the Spanish Sara Pérez Sala, current champion of THE CHAMPIONSHIP, and second in the ranking, and the Swiss Imogen Simmonds, second in Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2021.

More than 550 volunteers
The event will once again have a solid volunteer team, formed almost entirely by the sports fabric of the municipality of Calvià. And it is that clubs and sports associations of the municipality actively participate in the management of this triathlon, once again highlighting the union of Calvià sport in global events.

A community project
Challenge Peguera Mallorca is an example of institutional collaboration and private initiative. Organised by the Fundación Calvià 2004 and the Calvià Town Hall in collaboration with the Spanish Triathlon Federation, the event also has the support of the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB) and the Mallorca Tourism Foundation (Consell de Mallorca). Other entities such as the Hotel Association of Peguera and Cala Fornells, Challenge Family and brands such as Zone3, Powerbar, Red Bull or Abus amongst others that collaborate in the management of the event also participate, without forgetting the invaluable help of the body of more than 500 volunteers of the municipality.
