The Ecovidrio Green Flags Movement recognises Calvià for its commitment to sustainability during this summer
• The “Iglú Verde” award distinguishes those localities that, within the framework of the #MovimientoBanderasVerdes (#GreenFlagsMovement), have increased the selective collection of glass containers during the summer and overcome the challenge established by Ecovidrio
• Thanks to its activism in favour of the environment and the efforts of its local hospitality industry, Calvià (Mallorca) has exceeded the objective set by Ecovidrio
• In total, this year, Illes Balears has had the participation of 28 municipalities and 3.656 hospitality establishments, which have collected around 15.000 tons of glass containers this summer
Ecovidrio, the non-profit entity in charge of managing the recycling of waste in glass containers in Spain, has recognised Calvià (Mallorca) as one of the coastal municipalities of the Balearic Islands most committed to sustainability, the circular economy and glass recycling, within the celebration of the IV Edition of the #GreenFlagsMovement.
Thus, thanks to its activism in favour of the environment and the efforts of its local hospitality industry, the municipality of Calvià has collected, during this summer, 1.493 tons of glass containers. In this way, Calvià Town Hall has exceeded the objective set by Ecovidrio, notably increasing the selective collection of glass containers during the summer season.
To achieve this, the municipality has had the collaboration of 222 hospitality establishments, which have joined in to participate in this campaign.
