Pieter Heemeryck and Radka Kahlefeldt win in the sixth edition of Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2019

Pieter Heemeryck (BEL) and Radka Kahlefeldt (CZE) have become the champions of the sixth edition of Challenge Peguera 2019, on a day when European triathlon has been focused on the municipality of Calvià.

The day was sunny and a bit cloudy in Peguera. Having the weather as an ally for the perfect development of the event, the race began at 9 in the morning. The 1200 registered departured by categories.

Ahead, the epic of swimming 1.9 km at Torà beach, the 90 km of bicycle in a varied circuit and that runs through some of the main points of the municipality (Peguera, Calvià, Es Capdellà, Magaluf, Son Ferrer, El Toro, Santa Ponça...), to finish running 21 km through Peguera.

Men's race

The Belgian Pieter Heemeryck (03:49:57) was proclaimed champion of this edition, followed by the Austrian Thomas Steger (03:54:13) and the Swiss Ruedi Wild (03:56:09) in third position.

Women's category

The victory was for Radka Kahlefeldt (CZE), who managed to stop the timer at 04:21:42, beating the second-placed, the French Jeanne Collonge (FR) (04:27:34), in more than five minutes and in more than seven the third, the Austrian Lisa Hütthaler (AT) (04:28:59)

Challenge Peguera Mallorca concludes its sixth edition with spectacular numbers. 87% of visitor registrations, more than 2000 athletes amongst all activities and a programme of activities that has joined residents and tourists for a few days in Peguera with sports and Mallorca as protagonists.

The event is one of the emblems of the project to fight against the tourist seasonal standstill carried out by Calvià Town Hall in collaboration with Fundación Calvià 2004.

The Challenge Peguera-Mallorca organisation deeply regrets the death of one of the participants and wants to reiterate its condolences to the athlete's family.

Out of respect for the family, it has been decided to cancel all celebration events, only sporting events are maintained, including the awards ceremony this afternoon.


The organisation of CHALLENGE PEGUERA MALLORCA wants to thank all the people who have participated as volunteers in any of the tasks of the event. More than 600 people who have done an exceptional job so that the event could meet the expectations of the participants. This gratitude should be extended to the security, emergency, civil protection and other agents involved.
